Sellers must provide required tax information; failure to do so will restrict or suspend the account
What Etsy says
Sellers are solely responsible for updating their location information so that taxes can be accurately calculated. Etsy may restrict or suspend accounts that have not provided required tax information or completed steps required for Etsy to comply with applicable laws.Read Etsy's full Fees & Payments Policy
How to stay compliant
- Log in to Etsy and navigate to Shop Manager > Finances > Legal and Tax Information.
- Complete or update your W-9 (US sellers) or W-8BEN (international sellers) as requested.
- Verify your shop's country and address information is accurate — tax calculation errors can stem from incorrect location data.
- If Etsy has restricted payouts rather than suspended the shop, complete the required forms and payouts should resume within 1-3 business days.
